WCHS Junior Year Timeline
Fall
- Make sure you meet the requirements for graduation or college
- Take the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 13 for $13.00
- Begin researching colleges, talk to reps at College and Career Fair
- Begin searching for scholarships
- Turn in Job Shadow forms and consent ASAP
- Job Shadow and complete requirements
- Take the ASVAB November __ for free
- Complete ASVAB analysis
- Update Career Portfolio
- Complete Service Learning hours
Winter
- Take an ACT or SAT prep course at West Central ($75)
- Register for the ACT or SAT test--either online or by mail
- Remember that ACT registration is 4-5 weeks prior to test
- Continue searching for scholarships
- Update Career Portfolio
- Complete Service Learning hours
Spring
- Make a list of post-secondary schools you're interested in attending
- Attend Post-High Planning Day Event at USF to meet recruiters
and collect college info
- Take the ACT or SAT-spring or summer is the best time-($32
basic, $47 with writing exam)
- Meet with college reps who visit WCHS
- Register for Senior Year(make sure you have enough credits)
- Search for scholarships
- Update Career Portfolio
- Complete Service Learning hours--mention the work you do in college and scholarship applications
- Look for unique opportunities in work, classes or volunteering that will set you apart from others
